Matt Wegh

Program Manager, Outreach With Lacrosse and Schools

 

Matt WeghMatt is an educator. He is currently a program manager for a non-profit organization called Outreach With Lacrosse and Schools (OWLS), where he plans and executes programming with youth on the South and West sides of Chicago. He began his work at OWLS in the summer of 2022.  

Prior to OWLS, Matt was a high school English teacher at De La Salle Institute, one of the oldest Catholic schools in Chicago. Apart from his time as an English teacher, he was also the head varsity lacrosse coach as well as the varsity linebackers coach for the football team. He was an advisor for the school's student newspaper, The Victory News.

Matt began his career in education at Urban Prep Academies --- Englewood Campus in 2018. Through his time at Urban Prep, used both his English Language Arts and Special Education certifications to teach a variety of subjects. He founded the first ever lacrosse program in the Englewood neighborhood while also serving as the defensive coordinator for the football team and pitching in with several other clubs and after-school programs.

Prior to that, Matt received an undergraduate degree in English and Secondary Education from Illinois Wesleyan University.
