Sunyou Kang

Sunyou Kang is the Director of Operations at The Action Lab. In her role, Sunyou manages research projects at the intersections of criminal justice and public health and focuses on maximizing the impact and sustainability of the Lab’s administrative, financial, and research operations. The Action Lab, a “think-and-do” tank within the Northeastern University School of Law, works at the intersection of criminal justice, public health, and public safety to generate knowledge and inform policy in service of health equity and justice. The Action Lab brings together experts from a diverse array of fields including law, public health, medicine, sociology, and journalism to advance common goals while providing mentorship to students and early career professionals.

Prior to stepping into her current role with the Action Lab, Sunyou worked in various research and clinical capacities across California and Massachusetts. Her commitment to advancing health equity is informed by her experiences in urgent and specialty medical care as well as her wide-ranging research interests and experiences including substance use disorder, health misinformation, and communicable and chronic disease.

Sunyou graduated from the University of Southern California with a B.S. in Health Promotion & Disease Prevention. She is proud to join the Baumhart Scholars Class of 2025 in this next step of her education and career.
