Brian Campbell, PhD

Associate Director, Graduate Career Community

Brian Campbell (he/him) is the Associate Director of the Graduate Career Community, where he advises PhD students exploring a wide range of career opportunities in academia, industry, and non-profit sectors.

Before joining Loyola, Brian was the Senior Assistant Director of Graduate Career Development at the University of Chicago where he advised graduate students in the humanities and social sciences.

A trained historian, Brian earned his PhD in U.S. History from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He also holds an MA in History from the State University of New York at Buffalo and a BA in History from Ohio State University. His research has been published in Journalism History and the award-winning anthology Sport and Protest in the Black Atlantic (Routledge, 2023).

Brian is passionate about helping graduate students leverage their research and teaching experiences to build fulfilling careers both inside and outside of academia.
