Certificates

Students pursuing their M.A. in Criminal Justice and Criminology (CJC) are required to complete five CJC courses and five electives. Two of these electives can be taken in CJC or other graduate programs, and there are a number of programs that allow students to earn certificates by taking specific classes within those fields. For example, there are formal certificates in Public Affairs & Management, Data Science, Geographic Information Systems, and Women’s Studies & Gender Studies. Students who plan to complete a certificate as part of their CJC M.A. studies must also apply to the certificate program, be accepted, and then they may begin taking the certificate-related courses. Students who plan to earn a certificate while in the M.A. program should discuss their graduate-level elective options with the Graduate Program Director.
