About

Emily Barrett is a Chicago-based pianist with a specialization in ballet accompaniment. In Chicago, she has worked for Joffrey Academy of Dance, A&A Ballet, Chicago Movement Collective, Hyde Park School of Dance, Chicago High School for the Arts, Ballet Chicago, Ruth Page Center for the Arts, Visceral Dance Center, Columbia College Chicago, Chicago Ballet Arts, and COMMON Conservatory.

In 2018, she left the Midwest to pursue her Masters of Music in Piano for Dance at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. While in Scotland, she served as a full-time music staff member of Scottish Ballet. After completing her post-graduate degree she returned to the US to work with the Houston Ballet Academy and was promoted to Company Pianist for Houston Ballet for the 2019-2020 season.

Emily has also accompanied for American Ballet Theatre, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, Mark Morris Dance Group, Norwegian National Ballet, Danish National Ballet, Northern Ballet (Leeds, UK), and the Youth America Grand Prix. She has attended training courses at Canada's National Ballet and an annual conference for dance musicians: "il Corpo nel Suono" hosted by Accademia Nazionale di Danza in Rome, Italy. Emily is a proud member of the Internation Guild of Musicians in Dance.

Outside of the dance industry, Emily works as a theatre Music Director, pit musician, and synth technician. She spent two summers with Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre and was in the Chicago cast of the Netflix-produced "Bridgerton Experience".
