About

Robyn Mericle is an art historian and artist living in Chicago. She received her Ph.D. in art history from the University of Illinois at Chicago and has an MFA in electronic intermedia from the University of Florida. In addition to Loyola University Chicago, she has taught art and art history at UIC, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and the University of Florida.

Her research focuses on early twentieth-century American cinema and photography, with a particular interest in how ecology, natural landscapes, and the lives of animals are represented in art and visual culture. She has presented papers at CAA and other conferences and is currently working on an article for publication on the role of animals in silent film.
