As a sociocultural anthropologist, performance studies scholar, theater artist, and DEI and Anti-Racism specialist, Justin is skilled in social and organizational research methodologies, education, and training concerning cultural memory, transgenerational trauma, and anti-oppressive and anti-racist pedagogies. As a Ph.D. candidate in Socio-cultural Anthropology at American University, Justin also focuses on anti-racism in education, combatting social death in Black Queer populations, identity reconstruction in marginalized youth, and creative/experimental Black ethnographic methodologies.
In their current position as the inaugural Anti-Oppressive Pedagogies Specialist in Faculty Development at Loyola University Chicago, Justin leads the design, execution, and management of Anti-Oppressive (AOP), anti-racist (ARP), and DEI-focused pedagogical strategies and programs for educators across our 4 university campuses. With 9 years of experience in crafting Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Accessibility, & Belonging (DEIAB) strategies for university and business leaders and training educators in anti-oppressive, anti-racist, and DEIAB-focused pedagogies for practical application, they have a demonstrated track record in AOP, ARP, and DEI change-making and leadership.
