Taylor and Paulette O’Malley have generously committed $300,000 to create the Taylor and Paulette O’Malley Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the School of Environmental Sustainability (SES). This current-use fund will support a post-doctoral fellow and provide essential discretionary research funds specifically focused on advancing sustainable food systems.

SES is dedicated to addressing both local and global environmental challenges, with sustainable food systems being a top priority. Today’s industrial food systems often prioritize short-term profits at the expense of long-term environmental and social well-being. In response, SES fosters collaboration with diverse partners and communities to develop and promote sustainable and equitable food systems. The ultimate goal is to advance policies and practices that ensure everyone has access to healthy, culturally appropriate food produced through ecologically sound methods.

The Taylor and Paulette O’Malley Post-Doctoral Fellowship empowers SES to attract top-tier scholars committed to sustainable food systems, benefiting the Chicagoland community and beyond.
