Application Requirements
Application requirements for the Nursing - Accelerated BSN include:
- Official Transcripts
- 3.0 Minimum GPA
- Personal Statement
- Prerequisite Completion Form
- Two Letters of Recommendation*
- Resume/CV
*Letters of recommendation should be from references who know you in a professional and/or academic capacity.

Prerequisite Standing Requirements
Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution.
Prerequisite Course Requirements
The ABSN program requires 33 total credit hours of prerequisites: 15 science course credits and 18 non-science course credits. While you can apply to our ABSN program with some prerequisites in progress, you must satisfy the course requirements before you can start the program.
Prerequisite courses must be from regionally accredited institutions. Courses that are taken via a self-directed, online learning platform will not be accepted.
Note that science courses that are described as fundamental, essential, or survey courses are generally not going to be accepted because these courses do not provide the depth in the topic areas required as pre-requisite knowledge for the nursing major courses.

Note: Some state licensing boards are requiring microbiology lab to be included in the pre-licensure program of study. Consider taking a microbiology with lab as a prerequisite if you anticipate working in states other than Illinois.

Official transcripts are those sent directly to the college by Loyola University Chicago. Transcripts sent by the student to Loyola are considered unofficial documents, and while they may be utilized for initial review of your application, official transcripts are still required. Official documents should be sent by the institution to gradapp@luc.edu.
International Applicant Requirements
An official English language proficiency exam is required for international applicants whose native language is not English. If you have non-U.S. educational credentials, you are required to submit an official transcript evaluation. The transcript evaluation cannot be waived.
