About
Emily Chin, PhD, RNC, CNE is an Assistant Professor and the Director of the 4-Year BSN Program at the Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing. Dr. Chin joined Loyola University Chicago in 2012 after completing her PhD at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She holds a BSN from UIC, as well as a BS in Biology from Emory University in Atlanta.
Dr. Chin has been an obstetric nurse for over 18 years and continues her clinical practice as a staff nurse in the Chicago area. She is fortunate to count a number of MNSON alumni and former students among her current co-workers. Family Health Patterns I (MCN 273) is Dr. Chin’s primary course; her clinical experience and expertise informs her classroom teaching. Additionally, Dr. Chin has taught GNUR 293 Pathophysiology and GNUR 102 Intro to Professional Nursing Practice.
Dr. Chin is faculty advisor to the Student Nurses' Association of Illinois at Loyola (SNAI-L) and the Class of 2023 Nursing Student Council. The Illinois Nurses Foundation named Dr. Chin as a 40 Under 40 Emerging Nurse Leader.
Research Interests
Dr. Chin's research has focused on childbearing persons in the perinatal and and postpartum period.
