About

Dr. Tenfelde is a researcher, an educator, and a clinician. As the director of the WHNP track, she leads the course work on women's health and gender related studies. She is the co-chair of the Nurse Practitioners in Women's Health (NPWH) Academic Program Leaders for WHNP education on the national level. She has done postgraduate work as a sexual counselor and as a certified yoga instructor, and she incorporates integrated health with her research and the courses she teaches. As a practicing WHNP, she works clinically one day a week at a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) in Chicago. 

Research Interests

Dr. Tenfelde's area of research focuses on improving maternal health outcomes, with a special focus on health disparities research. She is focused on improving prenatal and postpartum care through the use of big data. In addition to her own research, she works collaboratively with colleagues on projects related to yoga and sexual health. She is actively involved in quality improvement work at her FQHC, and is grateful for her role as a clinician and researcher to help improve care for underserved populations.
