Exercise Science Laboratories

Hands-on learning with state-of-the-art equipment.

At Loyola University Chicago, our Exercise Science students and faculty enjoy two, first-rate laboratories equipped with the latest in health and exercise science technology. An integral part of the curriculum, lab experiences offer undergraduate and graduate students the ability to learn and apply their skills in a clinical setting as well as prepare them for national certifications in clinical exercise physiology and strength and conditioning. Within our close-knit learning community, students enjoy small class sizes and easy access to labs and equipment.

Human Performance Lab

The newest addition to the Exercise Science program, Loyola opened its Human Performance Laboratory in August 2019. Located within the new Alfie Norville Practice Facility, a state-of the-art training center for Loyola Athletics, offers students the unique opportunity to work directly with student-athletes on a regular basis. The 800 square-foot lab is equipped with portable metabolic, biomechanical, and motion-capture equipment.

Clinical Exercise Science Lab

Opened in 2015, the Clinical Exercise Science Laboratory is located on the 11th floor of BVM Hall overlooking beautiful Lake Michigan. The 1,200 square-foot facility is designed to enhance the teaching and training of the applied aspects of exercise physiology. The lab features treadmills, exercise bikes, and a metabolic cart that assesses the body’s physiological response to exercise.
