We mourn the passing of Dr. Mine Cinar. About her life →
Mine Cinar was a Professor of Economics at the Quinlan School of Business. Dr. Cinar completed her PhD in Econometrics at Texas A&M University and her MA in Economics at Vanderbilt University. She received her BA degree in Economics from Robert College/Bogazici University in Istanbul, Turkey and was a Fulbright-Hays graduate student in the United States. She previously served as the chairwoman of the Economics Department at Loyola and as the president of Middle East Economics Association (MEEA).
She was the director of the Ricci Scholars Program for the two-semester study abroad research program on East and West for outstanding undergraduates at the university. She also established and directed the Center for International Business in the Quinlan School of Business.
Dr. Cinar taught courses in managerial economics, game theory, international business (honors), and economic development in undergraduate, MBA, and Executive MBA (including healthcare) programs. She received various awards for teaching and service at Loyola.
Her research interests and publications were on all issues of global economic development including women, finance, and ecology. She published papers in various academic journals, has two books, and published the annual online proceedings journal of MEEA on the Loyola website.
