Brian Shoup

Adjunct Instructor, Accounting and Business Law


Brian spent 25 years at Abbott Laboratories in a variety of management and executive roles, mainly in finance. Immediately prior to his retirement in 2019, he led the integration of Abbott’s $25 billion acquisition of St. Jude Medical, a global medical device company with more than 19,000 employees. Prior to that role, he was the divisional vice president for Abbott’s global finance operations, managing an organization of some 1,500 people located in 70 countries around the world operating Abbott’s key accounting and finance functions.

Brian joined Abbott in 1994 and worked as controller or finance director of Abbott subsidiaries in Hungary, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Germany. Prior to joining Abbott, Brian was an auditor with Price Waterhouse (now PwC) in Chicago.

He is a board member and seasonal volunteer income tax preparer with LadderUp and is also a private pilot and a certified public accountant.
