About

Bahar Tahsily graduated in Architecture from the Art University of Teheran, and then she received her MA in Cinema Studies and her PhD in Philosophy from the Sapienza University of Rome. She teaches Modern Art and Art in Rome at the JFRC of Loyola University Chicago. She currently acts as co-organizer of the yearly international Critical Theory Conferences of Rome at the JFRC, where she also presented papers and organized panels. Her most recent work “Culture Industry and Orientalism in the Movie 300” has been published by Penn State University Press (2021). Her specialization is both in classical and modern art (with a special focus on cinema and media), as well as racism (with a special focus on orientalism), immigration studies and feminism.
