What is your favorite thing about working at Loyola?
Working at Loyola, I have quickly discovered my favorite aspects are my colleague’s commitment to students, other faculty/staff, and community partners through collaboration, humor, humility, and hard work. I get to learn from my colleagues each day I am here, and it is fun to see the world from the many perspectives.

What is your most memorable achievement as a Loyola employee?
Is survival an appropriate/acceptable answer? I think my most memorable achievement was garnering the Carnegie Community Engagement Classification in 2008 and 2015 – this task involved gathering university-wide data and collecting the voices of students, faculty and staff from across the University about the extensive community engagement work. It made me so proud to be at Loyola University Chicago! As I tell my children, I get to go to work today --- we forget sometimes that work is a privilege and honor!

What does Loyola's mission mean to you?
Loyola’s mission, to me, has been brought to life is so many, different ways. Through collaborative programs exploring social justice issues to the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius, I have encountered Loyola’s mission in action many times in my work here. Yet, nothing compares to the time when my wife was diagnosed with cancer and the Loyola community surrounded me with love to support me through that difficult time. Loyola’s mission was enacted in deeds as well as words, and, with three young children at home, I understood a new meaning of this community that cares.

What motivates you to succeed each and every day?
Our students, faculty, and community partners inspire and motivate me each day – working toward a more just society. Their desire to learn and do good in our communities keeps me going.

Tell us how you show your Rambler pride.

Every person I talk to, I share that I work at Loyola University Chicago and what an amazing place it is. Sometimes we are so busy working so hard at Loyola, we do not celebrate each other as much as we need to do. In order to develop a culture of celebration, I celebrate Loyola through dialogue and interaction.

Tell us something most people at Loyola would be surprised to know about you.

I won a breakdancing contest. (Sure, it was fifth grade, but I won. It still counts.)
