Expanded Role for Interim Dean Maciek Nowak

Dear Loyola Community,

I am pleased to announce that Maciek Nowak, PhD, interim dean and professor in the Quinlan School of Business, has agreed to take on the role of Senior Associate Vice President for Strategic Planning and Implementation.

In this role Dr. Nowak succeeds Goutham Menon, PhD, who, as previously announced, is beginning his sabbatical and stepping down as Dean of the School of Social Work at the end of June.

Dr. Nowak will continue collaborations with academic and administrative leaders to further advance the implementation of our Strategic Plan and assist in facilitating processes to identify and prioritize development of key initiatives that will have the greatest impacts for our University community.

He will join Cabinet and serve as a liaison to Loyola’s Board of Trustees (BOT) on the Strategic Plan, provide targeted updates, and incorporate Board feedback into the plan’s next phases of implementation. In addition to these new responsibilities serving the entire University, he will continue as Interim Dean at Quinlan until a new dean is in place.

As a business professor with expertise in supply chain and operations management, Dr. Nowak brings to this role a focused planning and implementation process that will aid us in accelerating progress against our goals and key performance indicators. He has a deep commitment to Loyola’s Jesuit, Catholic mission and will collaboratively engage Deans, Administrators, and the community as we accomplish a range of projects and initiatives and measure our progress against Strategic Plan objectives.

Loyola’s Strategic Plan, built by our community around our enduring values, provides a robust map to guide us as we strengthen our mission, address some of the world’s most urgent issues, and prepare students for current career prospects and jobs that don’t yet exist. The broad involvement of our community in the development and implementation of the plan has been central to its ambitious objectives and the effectiveness of its implementation.

We are grateful to Dr. Nowak for his willingness and service as he takes on this important role as we work together to create opportunities and shape our University’s future.
