MMSA and ODEI Ramadan Iftar
With the Muslim Medical Student Association (MMSA), the Stritch ODEI co-hosted an on-campus Iftar breaking-of-the-fast during the month of Ramadan. This year's event marked the second time the ODEI has served as an official co-sponsor/ host and the first time on Stritch's campus. Held on April 2, 2024 in the Stritch Faculty Lounge, MMSA student leaders welcomed a full room of faculty, staff, residents, and fellow students to join in the breaking of the daily fast, and cultivate fellowship and community over a traditional meal. In addition to providing space for community over a meal and prayer, the MMSA hosted a "Miracle Minute" to raise funds for the Palestinian Children's Relief Fund.

A Conversation With...Women in Medicine
Advocating for Yourself & Others in the Modern Era
The ODEI hosted its 2nd annual "A Conversation With..." Women in Medicine & Leadership series on March 20, in celebration of Women's History Month. The series was launched in AY2022-23 by former Associate Dean Dr. Patricia Robinson and expanded Stritch's longer-standing Empowering Women's Leadership in Medicine Initiatives with an annual, signature community event designed to uplight and advance women physicians, scientists, and advocates on Loyola's Health Sciences Campus. Following the 'conversation with' women clinical Chairs in March 2023, this year's event centered on the theme "Advocating for Yourself and Others in the Modern Era," and featured a facilitated panel discussion among five distinguished, Loyola women physicians advancing health equity through exemplary clinical and community-engaged practice: Dr. Marian Acevedo Alvarez (Urogynecology), Dr. Amy Blair (Family Medicine), Dr. Sacharitha Bowers (Dermatology), Dr. Theresa Nguyen (Emergency Medicine); and Dr. Monica Maalouf (Internal Medicine; facilitator).
