LeRoy Butler, PhD, serves as Vice President, Information Technology and Chief Information Officer at Loyola University Chicago. At Loyola, his responsibilities include planning, coordinating, and managing the University’s technology resources for teaching, learning, research, and administrative applications.
Butler believes in the transformative power of technology in providing quality educational opportunities for students. A native of South Carolina, Butler has spent his entire career working in educational organizations, and he has more than 20 years of IT management experience in higher education. Butler’s prior professional experience includes technology management positions at multiple universities and school districts. In addition, he is an educator who has taught information technology and project management courses for several universities. Butler has also served as a faculty member for EDUCAUSE, the world’s largest organization dedicated to advancing higher education through technology
Butler holds a PhD in Educational Administration from the University of South Carolina, master’s and bachelor’s degrees from Furman University, and several professional certifications in technology and project management. He is also a graduate of the Harvard Graduate School of Education’s Institute of Education Management.
