Dr. Minwoo Jung - Research on the Marriage Equality Movement in Taiwan
Dr. Minwoo Jung recently published an article with an empirical analysis on the marriage equality movement in Taiwan. This article finds a relationship between LGBT rights and national aspirations for sovereignty in response to the rising tension between Taiwan and China.
Associate faculty member Dr. Minwoo Jung is an assistant professor for the Sociology department with specialties in a variety of fields including, Gender and Sexuality, Social Movements, and Globalization and Transnational Processes. In his research, Dr. Jung focuses on the experiences of marginalized groups in relation to the effect of global and regional politics on their political, economic, and social life. He utilizes his two years spent in Taiwan, Singapore, and South Korea conducting ethnographic research to formulate his book project utilizing in-depth interviews from LGBT activists and community organizers.
