Weather Facts

Weather is the day-to-day or hour-to-hour change in the atmosphere. Many factors combine to determine the weather. These include, but are not limited to, temperature, atmospheric pressure, wind, humidity, precipitation, and cloud cover. Energy from the sun affects the weather too. Weather types include wind, lightning, storms, hurricanes, tornadoes, rain, hail, snow, and other events. Weather happens because different parts of the earth get different amounts of heat from the sun. The Earth's constant spinning and tilted axis cause some parts of the Earth to receive more solar radiation than others, which creates uneven heating. This makes different climates. Climate tells us what kinds of weather usually happen in an area at different times of the year.  Weather differs from climate since climate encompasses all weather conditions for a particular location averaged over about 30 years.
