About

Alexandre Cordahi has over 25 years of experience in international development law and legal and economic reforms. Since 1998, he has been engaged as a team leader and senior expert in EU and bilateral funded projects/programs supporting the rule of law.

From 1984 to 1989, he worked as a legal counsel in syndicated loans, project financing, and sovereign debt renegotiations. From 1989 to 1998, he served as a senior legal counsel and head department at the International Development Law Organisation (IDLO). Since 1998, he has been an Attorney at law (Paris Bar). In this capacity, he has contributed to the enhancement of law-making processes, access to justice, capacities of ministries and courts, use of public funds (administrative law and procedures, Public Private Partnership) and citizens' participation in Central and South East Europe, Moldova, Arab and ACP countries. He was a member of the team that contributed to EC "Support for justice reform in ACP countries" (Sept. 2010) bringing together representatives of the Commission, development agencies, and NGOs (Brussels, June & Oct. 2008).  Since 2011, Prof. Cordahi provides assistance in countries benefiting, in the wake of the Arab Spring, from the SPRING programme (Support for Partnership, Reform and Inclusive Growth). After Tunisia (Support to Justice Reform), Jordan (Budget support to the Justice Sector) and Algeria (Team leader and Governance expert assisting EU-Algeria Programming 2013-2017), he was a Key Expert in a project supporting the State Council of Lebanon. At present, he is the Team leader of a project (funded by the French Development Agency) supporting the Justice sector reform in Madagascar. Prof. Cordahi is a French and Lebanese citizen (born in Egypt 1954, educated at the Jesuit School of the Holy Family - Cairo). He has also been a part-time Lecturer at the Law Faculty of Paris I- Sorbonne (1980 to 1988). Fluent in French and English, Prof. Cordahi has knowledge of Greek (his mother's nationality), Arabic, Italian and rudimentary German.
