James J. Faught

About

James Faught practiced law in a small Chicago firm for three years before returning to Loyola, where he earned his law degree, to become a member of the administration in 1979. As associate dean for administration, he oversaw the general operation of the School of Law. During his career, he has served on a number of professional committees including the Illinois State Bar Association Standing Committee on Legal Education, Admission and Competence as chair; various Law School Admission Council Committees; the Illinois State Bar Association Committee on Liaison with the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission, and the Lawyers' Assistance Program of Illinois where he served as president in 2009-10. In 2004, Dean Faught was appointed to the Illinois Executive Ethics Commission. In 2008, he was reappointed to a second term and served as chair in 2009-10. He has published articles on the status of women in law schools and on controversial student organizations. Dean Faught is the founder and director of Loyola’s London Comparative Advocacy Program, which has brought students to London since 1988.
