Amy E. McCarty
About
Amy McCarty is a partner with Monahan Law Group, LLC, in Chicago, where she concentrates her practice in probate, contested guardianship and juvenile court litigation, elder law, child welfare law and mental health law. Ms. McCarty specializes in remedies to address abuse, neglect and exploitation of the elderly and disabled. She is frequently consulted as an expert in mental health confidentiality issues and has particular expertise in issues concerning the interplay between the Illinois Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Confidentiality Act and other State and Federal statutes and regulations. Prior to joining Monahan Law Group and its predecessor Monahan & Cohen, Ms. McCarty served for seven years as an Assistant Public Guardian with the Cook County Public Guardian’s Office, where she served as the court-appointed guardian ad litem for abused, neglected and dependent minors in the Child Protection Division of the Circuit Court of Cook County and managed the estates of disabled adults. Ms. McCarty received her Juris Doctorate from The John Marshall Law School, was a visiting student at the Civitas Child Law Center and Clinic of Loyola University Chicago School of Law and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from University of Michigan.
