The School of Continuing and Professional Studies was established in 1914 as Loyola's evening school, University College. As part of the Downtown College, University College provided men and women with an opportunity to further their studies and complete degrees on a part-time basis during the evening. In 1946, University College moved with the other Downtown College schools to the new Lewis Towers Campus, now Water Tower Campus. Following the affiliation of Mundelein College and Loyola, University College was renamed the Mundelein College of Continuing Studies. It was later renamed to the School of Continuing and Professional Studies.
