Faculty Resources
The Tutoring Center exists in support of the work of Loyola's esteemed faculty to educate and transform Loyola University Chicago's undergraduate students. The Tutoring Center provides students a collaborative environment in which to engage course material and each other, fostering a sense of community and purpose, as well as contextual understanding during the learning process.
Course content is revisited in small group sessions in which students can ask each other questions, delve into course resource materials, and actively learn from other student participants. These sessions are guided by peer leaders (Supplemental Instruction Leaders or Peer Tutors) who have been carefully screened and trained to mediate such learning environments and who are personally invested in the subject matter as well as the success of the students in their groups.
All Tutors and Supplemental Instruction Leaders must have a letter of recommendation from a Professor/Instructor who has a knowledge of the student in their subject area(s) of interest.
If you have an outstanding student you feel would make an excellent peer leader, please contact the Tutoring Center at tutoringcenter@luc.edu.
Faculty/Departmental Partnerships
The Tutoring Center encourages ideas and requests from faculty and departments who seek to generate new discipline-specific programming and partnerships. As the Center continues to evolve in support of the University mission and the Jesuit tradition of transformative education, we seek opportunities for collaboration at all levels. If you have an idea or need, please do not hesitate to contact the Tutoring Center at tutoringcenter@luc.edu.
Encouraging Students to Use the Tutoring Center
The Center, like so many other excellent resources on campus, is funded by students and meant as a tool for academic and personal excellence. Students from a host of majors and backgrounds utilize the services. However, one of the main reasons some students do not utilize the Center is that they don't know about it or how to utilize it. That's where we need your help.
If you have a student that could benefit from further academic support, please refer them to us:
